Georgia Southern’s Freshman Terren Ward Selected Sun Belt Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced its Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.

Ward set career highs in points on back-to-back nights as Georgia Southern earned a split with first-place Troy over the weekend. The freshman guard delivered career-highs in points (17) and rebounds (15) in Friday night’s 96-91 win over the Trojans which snapped a 17-game losing streak to Troy dating back to 1978. She added five steals and three assists in the victory. On Saturday, Ward scored 20 point and pulled down nine rebounds. For the week, Ward averaged 18.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3 steals and 2.5 assists per game.

Sun Belt Conference Women’s Basketball Standings

This season, the 12 Sun Belt women’s basketball programs is split into an East Division and a West Division to minimize travel amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Teams will play each other on back to back days (Fridays and Saturdays) at the same location.
