MEAC Announces Weekly Men’s Basketball Honors, presented by Coca-Cola

NORFOLK, Va., Dec. 15, 2020Redshirt senior guard Anthony Tarke of Coppin State has been named both Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, it was announced on Tuesday. Meanwhile, his little brother, freshman guard Nendah Tarke, has been tabbed MEAC Rookie of the Week.

Anthony Tarke (G, 6-6, 200, r-Sr., Gaithersburg, Md.) had a banner game in an 86-80 win over UNC Greensboro,

tallying 34 points to go along with 10 rebounds, eight assists, four steals and four blocked shots, the first NCAA player to amass such numbers in a single game since the 2010-11 season. For the week, including losses to Georgetown and UMBC, he averaged 16.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 3.3 steals and 2.0 blocked shots.

Nendah Tarke (G, 6-4, 190, Fr., Gaithersburg, Md.) had a season-high 20 points with four rebounds in the victory over UNC Greensboro and averaged 9.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals for the week.

Other Top Performers

Troy Baxter (MSU) had a game-high 25 points with seven rebounds in a win over Iona, connecting on five of eight shots from 3-point territory.

Kameron Langley (NCAT) averaged 15.7 points, 7.7 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals in losses to Longwood, VCU and Western Carolina, including 20 points, 16 assists and nine rebounds in the latter contest.

C.J. Keyser (NCCU) scored 19 points with five rebounds, three steals and two assists in the Eagles’ near upset over 16th-ranked North Carolina. Keyser shot 50 percent from the field, connecting on nine of 18 shots.

Devante Carter (NSU) had a 14-point, 12-rebound double-double in the Spartans’ loss to UNC Greensboro, also making a pair of steals in that contest.
