Starting today local High School Basketball Teams will be trying to advance to the advance to the championship round of the 2020 AHSAA State Basketball Championship.
Today Monday 24th the St. Luke’s Lady Wildcats will take on Mars Hill Bible Lady Panthers at 12pm. Head Coach Garreth Trawick has his team playing at a high level and look forward to trying to bring home a championship. St. Luke’s is lead by Junior Whitney Novak who can score and play at a high level, which the Lady Wildcats will need.
Tuesday the 25th there will be a cat fight Williamson Lions will take on Brooks Lions from Killen, AL. Head Coach Shumbe Hunter will have their hands full with the Brooks Lions who appears by the numbers are evenly matched looking at both teams records. Williamson has several talented players on their roster and are a young group. Look for players Robert Woodyard, Jordan Bell, Justin Brown and Jacameron Horn and the list goes on and on to light up the scoreboard.
Wednesday the 26th two teams from the area will be playing to start things off will be B.C. Rain Red Raiders taking on Bessermer City Tigers. Head Coach Edwin Burke has the Red Raiders playing well and as a team. The Red Raiders has a back court duo in Aaron Powe and Demetrice Hardin, who can motivate a team to win on any given day. Look for these guys and a host of others to be playing at their best to try to bring it home.
The LeFlore Rattlers will also play later in the day when they take on the Fairfield Tigers. Head Coach Jeffery Pope and his team are peaking at the right time in the season and when everyone counted them out. The Rattlers have had several players step up their game during the playoffs and look for that to continue. Jailyn Murray, Jeremy Whitfield, Madison Reed and a host of others have all contributed to the resent play of the Rattlers.
Thursday 27th another two teams from the area will be playing, first up the McGill-Toolen Lady Yellow Jackets taking on Spain Park Jaguars. Head Coach Carla Berry has positioned her team to get back to the Final Four. The Lady Yellow Jackets have had some close calls during the regular season and beating Foley to get to the Final Four has McGill on high. I’m sure their Coach has instilled the team to be humble and take it one game at a time. Look for the Yellow Jackets to play hard behind Juniors Nya Valentine, Sanola Mixon and a cast of others.
The Fairhope Pirates will play later in the day taking on Mountain Brook Spartans. First year Head Coach Solomon Johnson and the Pirates have had a great season and have made their way to the Final Four. The Pirates have had good play from several players to help get them here, Mr. Excitment Ramone Bradley, Riley Leonard, Hunter Ivy and several more players. Fairhope will have there hands full with Mountain Brook and looks forward to the game.
