High School Basketball is Here

Well the high school basketball season has begun in the state of Alabama last night and there were some very good games in the Mobile Region which covers from the southern part of Mississippi to the Florida Panhandle.

On tap Thursday night where the following games boys and girls:

Daphne vs Baker (Girls)

The Baker Lady Hornets were in control of the game pretty much all night. Junior Guard Harley Waites lead all scorers with 25 points, the expolsive Floor General Junior Guard Crystin Guy had 14 points and not forget Junior Forward Hillary Rhodes had 12 points for the Lady Hornets in their home opener. For the Daphne Lady Trojans Sophonore Foward Tiana Smith lead the way for the Lady Trojans with 14 points and Senior Center Zoey Bemlory had 13 points. 

Baker (1-0) returns to action in the McGill Tip Off Classic against St. Paul’s @ 3:30 on Wednesday, November 13.

Daphne vs Baker (Boys) – 70-67

Head Coach Cedric Yelding said that, “We lost a tough one on the road to take on the Baker Hornets and I was impressed with our effort.”

Leading all scores for the Trojans was Senior PF/Center Terreance Edwards-Fleming who had a double double 26 points and 14 rebounds. Sophomore Guard Colby McAllister had 10 points.

St. Paul’s vs St. Michael’s (Girls) – 57-21 St. Paul’s

This game wasn’t close at all throughout the game. The Saints held St. Michaels scoreless in the fourth quarter. The Saints had three players in double figures Senior Forward Brittney Sharpe 15 points , Sophomore Rachel Bell 13 points and Senior PF/Center Emma Mueller 10 points.

St. Paul’s will travel to play Alma Bryant on Monday night in Irvington, AL.

Alma Bryant vs Fairhope – 64-36 Fairhope

Fairhope Pirates cruised to victory over the Hurricanes with four players in double figures. Senior Guard Holman Bowen 23pts 3rebs 4assts 5stls Sophomore Guard Hunter Ivy 10pts 6rebs 6assts, Jyren Kyles 15pts 2stls and SophomoreEdward Witherington 11pts 16rebs
