MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State and Bethune-Cookman will meet on the hardwood at the inaugural Bridge Builders Classic at the Mitchell Center in Mobile (Ala.) on January 29.

The event will feature three high school games beginning at 10 am, followed by a pair of collegiate games including Jackson State and Grambling at 5 pm. The Hornets and Bethune-Cookman will close the night out with tip set for 7 pm.

“We are excited to host the inaugural Bridge Builders Classic in the city of Mobile,” said Kevin Ball, Managing Partner of the Bridge Builder Classic. “It has been our goal to invest in the exposure of HBCUs here in the Gulf Coast area. With the inception of the Gulf Coast Challenge and Bridge Builder Classic, the city of Mobile is quickly becoming recognized as the ‘Home of HBCU events.’ We anticipate that the Bridge Builder Classic will become the premiere showcase of the HBCU talent housed within the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) basketball.”

The Bridge Builders Classic was created to enhance exposure for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and to highlight the roles that HBCUs play in educating aspiring professionals and developing future leaders. The Bridge Builders Classic will serve as the “ultimate HBCU basketball experience” in the city of Mobile.
